About Captain Dan Bumgarner

Growing up in northwestern North Carolina, Captain Dan spent his younger years chasing anything that swam in the lakes, ponds, and streams of the "Tar Heel State". Upon graduation from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, he and his wife moved to Florida so he could pursue a career in teaching high school Industrial Arts. Blessed with two daughters, three grandsons, and one granddaughter, Captain Dan retired from teaching in 1997. He then founded Tampa Bay Charter Fishing and fulfilled a lifetime dream by becoming a full-time charter fishing guide on the waters of Tampa Bay.

"Fishing is like going to the prom. If you learn your steps and etiquette, mother nature will send her prettiest girls to dance with you." – Captain Dan
